Dallimore’s Pharmacy
A well designed sign can go beyond identifying a business and become a community landmark.
Scenario
Dallimore’s Pharmacy called us for advice on how best utilise their side wall. Other sign companies had not impressed them with their ideas. They wanted a sign that would really stand out and promote their pharmacy, as customers were having trouble finding them on busy Malvern Road.
The other sign companies advised using large lettering in red or another bright colour. This was just too ordinary for their heritage building. There was a chance to do something special and unique with their great exposure to a main road.
Solution
We designed the sign in an old style using colours to suit the building, while still standing out. They loved the idea. The sign attracted a lot of attention during its construction and after. People are interested in the age old process of hand sign writing and painting. Drivers would honk their horns; locals would stop and remember similar advertising from their childhood. Local papers asked for interviews and photos of the sign.
This sign was very popular for a few years until the pharmacy was taken over by a chain and it was painted over.
Just how much impact this style of sign can have was demonstrated when upon informing their customers that the sign was to be painted over the pharmacy owners decided to get postcards made to give out to their valued clients as a souvenir.
